The ATTAIN Project Description The purpose of the ATTAIN Project is to provide hands on assistive technology training to participating LEA (Local Education Agency) personnel and pre-service teachers. The training focuses on assessing the need for assistive technology, matching assistive technology to students, equipment selection and usage, and integrating assistive technology into instruction. ATTAIN also maintains a lending library and assists LEA personnel in making assistive technology purchasing decisions. In complete alignment with The Alliance for Technology Access mission, the ATTAIN Project’s ultimate goal is to provide technology that will enhance learning capabilities of individuals with disabilities’ and consequently their quality of life. Mission: The ATTAIN Project’s Mission is to provide West Tennessee educators with training and consultation in Assistive Technology that meets the specific needs of each learning education agency it supports. The ATTAIN Project has outlined the following objectives: - ATTAIN will work with local education agencies (LEA) contacts to schedule training sessions and identify needs.
- ATTAIN will deliver hands-on training to participants in AT equipment, assessment, and instructional integration.
- ATTAIN will assist LEA personnel in making purchasing decisions of AT equipment, then purchase it for them at a discounted rate.
- ATTAIN will provide follow-up consultation to address specific AT concerns of teachers and students.
