Career and Vocational Testing The Center offers comprehensive career and vocational testing that facilitates individual career development. The test results provide individuals and referral sources with comprehensive information useful in the career development process. Trained counselors conduct career and vocational testing. Individuals are actively involved in developing assessment plans tailored to meet their specific needs. Areas assessed may include aptitude, achievement, interest, and career decision-making. Mid-South Access Center for Technology The Center offers assistive-technology assessment and training for individuals of all ages. Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment, or product system that is customized, modified, or bought in order to improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Assistive Technology Services help an individual select, acquire, or learn to use assistive technology devices. Assistive Technology may be beneficial to individuals with disabilities both in everyday activities such as taking medication and talking on the phone, as well as work-specific activities such as using the computer or calculator. Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) The Center offers assessment, evaluation, and training for individuals who require non-traditional methods of communicating. This service is geared for assessing an individual’s specific need regarding difficulty with either verbal or written communication, or both. The assessment and evaluation can identify existing technology designed to augment an individual’s communication methods for optimal results. Training is provided once a technology is identified and agreed upon. Tennessee Technology Access Program The Center trains school board service providers and non-profit human agency service providers on the latest Assistive Technology services and devices. Low income and minority individuals and their families are targeted as recipients of this information and training on Assistive Technology. The TTAP advocates inclusion of all individuals with disabilities.
