The University of Memphis, College of Education has been awarded a contract from Shelby County Head Start to provide educational services to children and families and to provide professional development for Shelby County Head Start Directors, teachers and staff.

What is Head Start?

Head Start is a Federal Funded Program that serves children ages 3 to 5 from low-income families. Children will participate in a variety of activities.

  • They will receive medical and dental care – have healthy meals/snacks.
  • Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.

Application

Head Start is a federal funded program provided at no cost to families. Certain eligibility criteria must be met. Staff are available to assist interested families through the application process.
