The purpose of the program is to prepare students to be leaders within their professional areas of education or education-related settings. The ICL department offers an undergraduate BSED degree and four graduate degrees: MAT, MS, EdS, EdD. BSEDThe ICL Department offers three undergraduate majors leading towards initial teacher licensure: MATThe Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree is for people who are seeking initial teacher licensure and a master's degree. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. The concentrations for this degree are: MSThe purpose of the Master of Science Degree is to provide students the opportunity to expand their knowledge base in teaching areas and areas related to education. After admission to the department, the student's baccalaureate degree serves as the base upon which a master's level program of study is planned. For some students the master's degree is a continuation of studies begun at the undergraduate level, for others the degree program provides them the opportunity to expand into other areas of education. The concentration are: EDDThe Doctor of Education Degree builds upon the students' master's degree by allowing them to specialize in a field of studies and to expand their competencies in research. Students in the doctoral program have the opportunity to individualize their program of studies, through the doctoral residency, thus allowing them the flexibility of an in depth exploration in areas related to their career goals.
