Curriculum and Instruction

Each classroom utilizes child centered, active learning, research based curriculum modules in which children’s interests and choices are supported in a variety of ways. Examples of such curriculum models used include High Scope and The Creative Curriculum with the Project Approach. Teachers conduct outgoing developmental child assessment using the Work Sampling System.

Both sites serve as Centers of Excellence, providing Shelby County Head Start with models of exemplary practices supporting children’s preschool development.
