Mission Statement

Graduates will have knowledge and skills to positively impact the nutritional health of the global community.

Goals and Outcomes

Goal 1

The program will produce competitive graduates for entry-level dietetics positions across the U.S.

Outcome Measures

  • 80 % of graduates will have received at least a successful performance evaluation in their clinical nutrition internship experience.
  • 80% of graduates will have received at least a satisfactory evaluation on their nutrition/foods service-learning project.
  • 80% of graduates will have received at least a satisfactory evaluation on their nutrition/foods research project.
  • 30% of graduates will have presented their research project at either a local, regional, or national professional meeting.
  • 30% of graduates will have participated in a nutrition/healthcare-focused study abroad experience with at least a 90% positive response on the Student Evaluation.
  • 80% of graduating seniors and alumni will report at least ‘adequate preparation’ for each student learning outcome/expected competency.
  • 80% of graduates who desire to complete a supervised practice experience or a post-baccalaureate position will be accepted.
  • At least 50% of alumni will report employment in a nutrition/food/health-related position.
  • At least 80% of employer/internship preceptors will report that they would employ/supervise another program graduate/student based on their experience with previous program graduates/students.

Goal 2

The program will encourage, motivate, and support students to participate in experiences that promote lifelong learning.

Outcome Measures

  • At least 50% of students will participate in nutrition/food/health-related volunteer activities.
  • At least 50% of students will attend a minimum of one local, state, or national dietetic association meeting.
  • 30% of students will be employed in nutrition/food/health-related jobs.
  • 30% of students will hold leadership positions with campus and/or community organizations.
  • At least 50% of alumni will report involvement in local, state, or national dietetic associations.

Goal 3

The program will prepare students to demonstrate a commitment to their professional goals.

Outcome Measures

  • 50% of students will graduate with at least a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Graduation rates will be within one semester of the university rate.
  • Retention rates will be at least 90% of the university rate.
  • Alumni over a five-year period will achieve at least an 80% pass rate on the Registration Examination for Dietitians on their first attempt.
  • 80% of alumni will report they were at least ‘adequately prepared’ to demonstrate commitment to their professional goals.
