Welcome to the Secondary Education Program at the University of Memphis. We are a part of the Instruction and Curriculum Leadership Department (ICL) in the College of Education. Below is current information about our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program offered in Secondary Education (SCED).

Mission Statement

The primary mission of the department is to support the overall mission and goals of The University of Memphis and The College of Education by providing leadership and quality programs through excellence in graduate teacher education, instruction, curriculum, and instructional design and technology. These programs target in-service teacher and pre-service as well as other instructional curricular leaders, designers, and developers specializing in middle adolescent through adult level pedagogy and operational domains. The Secondary Division of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership within The University of Memphis are committed to developing teachers who are inspired to engage in critical thinking, problem solving, and lifelong learning.
